The exhaust system takes the poisonous waste products from your engine and redirects them through the catalytic converter and/or the DPF (for diesels) to filter out the worst of the toxins before expelling them behind the vehicle. The muffler helps quiet and adjust the tone of the exhaust. A defective or damaged exhaust system can do more than just be loud. It can leak carbon monoxide and other exhaust toxins into the passenger cabin, can cause engine damage, or lead to other expensive repairs if not addressed promptly.
If you have a loud sound or smell fumes, it is essential to get your exhaust system checked as soon as possible.
